On our radar - malaria and climate change – the threat


Climate change is having a marked effect on the range and frequency of mosquito-borne diseases such as malaria. Recent research by Tasmin Symons at the Malaria Atlas Project, Kids Research Institute in Australia forecasts future malaria burden under climate change, estimating millions of additional cases and deaths and highlighting the role of extreme weather in driving risk in sub-Saharan Africa.
